I have enjoyed painting in a representational way for many years. Recently, however, I have been engaged in a different journey in image making. It is a method of using the two-dimensional surface to explore mark-making, to discover elusive rhythms, shapes and textures…to transform these elements into images of my liking.
During the process, my emotions can range from tension and frustration to elation, if there is an exciting resolution.
If viewers take time to experience the results, they will have their own emotional responses.
There is the hope that the image will “surprise the hungry eye”… from a poem by John O’Donohue.
